The Mountains Moved: 00.02 14/11/16

New Zealand woke to the terrifyingly familiar rumble of the earth moving beneath us on Monday morning and as we dived for cover under beds and in doorways the question on all our minds was the same: Is this The Big One?
As two earthquakes merged into one massive seismic wallop measuring a horrifying 7.8 in magnitude the answer was pretty clear. Read the story here.

Since that awful night a week ago, we have experienced over 2,500 aftershocks. Everyone is on edge, waiting for the next big one, flinching at the slightest movement or sound. I sleep very lightly now, with my emergency bugout pack strategically placed by the front door. It will be a long time before I feel safe again.
